The 86th annual 24 Hours of Le Mans is 81 days away! This is the sixth
day of the 86 Stats in 86 Days Until the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Each day from now until the Friday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans,
we’ll post a list of stats related to the race. Some of well-known statistics,
while others are a little more in-depth.
Here is a look at starting positions of the overall winners. The
starting positions were determined beginning with the 1963 race.

Notes
of Interest
- No driver has ever won from the 13th or 15th starting positions
or any positions after the 16th starting position.
- Of the 10 pole-winning cars to win the race, four of those have
come in the last seven years.
- The starting position with the longest consecutive streak of
winning the race is three, by the polesitter (2011-2013) and second place
(2000-2002).
- Porsche has four victories from the pole, followed by Audi with
three and Matra, Ford and Bentley with one each.
