Event Recap: 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Statistics from Las Vegas (September 16, 2018)

Event statistics following the 27th race of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The race also marked the opening round of the 10-race playoffs.

Brad Keselowski won his third consecutive race, the first time in his career he’s won three straight Cup Series races, besting Kyle Larson by 1.276 seconds as the top seven finishers were all playoff contenders. For Keselowski, two of his victories during the three-race winning streak came from the 13th starting position. Martin Truex Jr. was third, Joey Logano fourth, Ryan Blaney fifth, Aric Almirola sixth and Kyle Busch. Kevin Harvick, who entered the race second in the standings, fell to fourth in the standings after an accident that also involved polesitter and fellow Chase contender Erik Jones.
