The latest edition of the all-encompassing Motor Racing Statistics “By The Numbers” blog, which looks at numbers throughout many forms of motorsports. This blog runs on Tuesdays through the year.

2 – Thierry Neuville won his second World Rally Championship event of the season Sunday, winning the Rally de Portugal by 40 seconds over Elfyn Evans.

3 – Ed Carpenter secured his third Indianapolis 500 pole position Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and will lead the field to the green flag of this weekend’s race.

3 – Zane Smith won his third ARCA Racing Series event of the season Sunday at Toledo Speedway in Ohio.

4 – Helio Castroneves will try to win his fourth Indianapolis 500 this weekend to become the fourth driver with as many victories in the race. A.J. Foyt was the first to win four Indy 500s, followed by Al Unser and Rick Mears.

5 – Darrell Waltrip owns the record for victories in the Coca Cola 600 with five.

6 – Ayrton Senna holds the record for most Monaco Grand Prix victories with six.

7 – Seven drivers have earned their first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory in the Coca Cola 600: David Pearson, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Matt Kenseth, David Reutimann, Casey Mears and Austin Dillon. (Additionally, drivers such as Marvin Panch and Jimmie Johnson have also earned their first Cup Series wins at Charlotte.)

7 – A total of seven World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races have been canceled due to rain this season. That doesn’t include eight other races that have been postponed to later dates due to inclement weather.

11 – Hendrick Motorsports owns a record 11 victories in the Coca Cola 600.

38 – It’s been 38 years since a car No. 5 has not competed in the Indianapolis 500, but the race will go without that number after James Hinchcliffe failed to qualify for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” The No. 5 last missed the race in 1979 (also missed the race in 1978).

63 – The 63rd annual Hoosier Hundred, also the fourth round of the 2018 USAC Silver Crown Series schedule, is Thursday, May 24, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

76 – This weekend’s Formula 1 race marks the 76th edition of the Monaco Grand Prix.

102 – This weekend marks the 102nd edition of the Indianapolis 500.

226.685 – This weekend’s field of 33 for the Indianapolis 500 averaged 226.685 mph in qualifying.

229.618 – Ed Carpenter captured the Indianapolis 500 pole position with a four-lap average of 229.618 mph (369.534 kph), with a fastest lap of 230.088 mph (370.291 kph).

769 – With the addition of four rookies in this weekend’s Indianapolis 500, a total of 769 drivers will have started the race.

1,000,000 – Kevin Harvick picked a million bucks in winning his second Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star race Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. Harvick also won the all-star race in 2007.
