Notes of Interest – Race Recap (Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, Race 2)
- This is Santiago Urrutia’s first Indy Lights victory of the season and the seventh of his career in 36 races.
- Urrutia, driving for Belardi Auto Racing, has now won races in each of the last three Indy Lights seasons, dating back to 2016.
- Overall, Urrutia has 10 victories in the Mazda Road to Indy system. He earned three victories during the 2015 Pro Mazda season.
- This was Urrutia’s 18th podium in Indy Lights competition. He earned seven podiums in 2016, when he earned Rookie of the Year honors, and nine in 2017. It was Urrutia’s third podium at St. Petersburg. He has finished on the podium in 50 percent of the Indy Lights races in which he has competed (18 of 36).
- Urrutia was the only driver to finish on the podium in both races at St. Petersburg. He finished second in the first race of the weekend.
- Shelby Blackstock finished second, claiming his third career podium finish and the best finish of his career in Indy Lights. Blackstock, driving for Team Pelfrey, had two previous best finishes of third (Mid-Ohio, 2015; Mid-Ohio, 2017).
- Blackstock completed his 2,000th career Indy Lights lap on Lap 13.
- Ryan Norman finished third, his first career podium finish, driving for Andretti Autosport.

- Aaron Telitz was credited with ninth for the second consecutive race. He hit the wall in Turn 2 on the opening lap. Telitz had an accident in qualifying ahead of Race 1 and was credited with ninth, despite not starting the race.
