Notes of Interest
- Cale Yarborough and Bill Elliott are the only two drivers to win the Daytona 500 from the pole position more than once (both have won it twice).
- The current streak of 17 consecutive years without a polesitter winning the Daytona 500 is a race record.
- Since 2000, the closest a polesitter has come to winning the race was fifth in 2001 by Bill Elliott.

- Of the seven drivers to win the race from the pole position, five of them are NASCAR Cup Series champions (Richard Petty, Cale Yarborough, Bill Elliott, Jeff Gordon and Dale Jarrett).
