Notes of Interest – Race Recap (DIRTcar Nationals, Night 1)
- This was Sheldon Haudenschild’s first career World of Outlaws A-Main Feature victory. He becomes the 129th driver to win an A-Main Feature.
- Haudenschild joins his father Jac Haudenschild as a father/son duo to win A-Main features. Jac Haudenschild is 16th on the all-time A-Main Feature victory list with 56 wins.
- Haudenschild becomes the 16th driver to win an A-Main Feature event at Volusia Speedway Park. Jason Johnson was the most recent first-time Volusia winner, picking up the season-opening victory last year.
- Paul McMahan, the track record holder at 12.569 seconds, finished second. He was trying to end a nearly three-year drought win; his last win came at Perris Auto Speedway in April 2015.
- Donny Schatz, who finished fourth, continues to lead the all-time A-Main Feature victory list at Volusia with 11. Schatz is one victory away from winning his 250th A-Main Feature race in the World of Outlaws.
- A total of 17 drivers finished the race on the lead lap, with Parker Price-Miller the final driver on the same lap as Haudenschild.
