Event Recap: 2018 IndyCar Series Statistics from Sonoma (September 16, 2018)

Event statistics following the 17th race of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season, the Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sonoma Raceway in California.

Ryan Hunter-Reay finished right where he started, taking his second victory of the season after earning his first pole position in more than four seasons. With the exception of pit stops, Hunter-Reay led the entire way and was rarely challenged, defeating Scott Dixon by 2.7573 seconds. Dixon, meanwhile, earned his fifth championship, which is now second only to seven-time titlist A.J. Foyt. Indianapolis 500 winner Will Power finished third, with teammate Simon Pagenaud taking fourth and Marco Andretti landing fifth.
