Notes of Interest – Race/Weekend Recap
- This was Todd Gilliland’s first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory of the season and seventh career. He has now won races in three consecutive seasons and two at New Smyrna Speedway (also won race in 2016). He led a race-high 96 laps.
- Gilliland now has 19 top-10 finishes in 20 races.
- Gilliland led an all-Toyota top-five performance, with Cole Rouse, Harrison Burton, Derek Kraus and Tyler Ankrum all driving Toyotas.
- Cole Rouse finished second in his series debut. It also marked a career-best Pro Series finish in any category for the Arkansas driver, who ran a full season of K&N Pro Series West competition in 2016.
- Harrison Burton finished third, the second of two drivers to lead laps in the race, after starting on the pole position, the third of his career. Burton now has pole positions in each of his three years on tour.
- Derek Kraus finished fourth. He has finished in the top-five in each of his two career races, both at New Smyrna (was career-best third in 2017 race).
- Tyler Ankrum finished fifth, advancing a race-high 20 positions in his series debut.
- Spencer Davis was the highest finishing Chevrolet, taking sixth. He has recorded at least one top 10 in each of the last four seasons.
- Defending race winner Ronnie Bassett Jr., who finished eighth, improved his streak of consecutive seasons with at least one top 10 to six, leading all drivers.
