-       The distance between overall leader Filipe Albuquerque and second-place Helio Castroneves (#7 Acura) at the end of the eighth hour was about 23 seconds. Renger van der Zande (#10 Cadillac) was third.
-       The temperature was 66 degrees Fahrenheit (18.9 degrees Celsius) at the end of the eighth hour.
-       There were four cars on the lead lap overall at the end of the eighth hour.
-       There were one full-course caution in the first eight hours.
-       Don Yount spun on the backstretch and tapped the wall. He brought the car back to the pits where crewmembers worked on the car.

-       Phil Hanson’s car (#23 Ligier) suffered a punctured right-rear tire just after the seven-and-a-half hour mark, and he brought the car back to the pits for a tire change. Fernando Alonso replaced Hanson in the car. The team lost two laps making repairs.
