Will Power took the lead late in the 248-lap race, cycling to the front after many of the leaders pitted for fuel, to earn his third victory of the season. Power also recorded his 35th IndyCar win, tying him for seventh all-time with three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Bobby Unser. 

Alexander Rossi finished second, earning his third consecutive finish of first or second, and gained slightly in the championship on points leader Scott Dixon, who finished third. Simon Pagenaud finished fourth, while Zach Veach claimed his career-best result on an oval, finishing fifth.

In a dual between a pair of men with the first name Kyle, the one with the last name Busch defeated the driver with the last name Larson, with the pair making contact several times on the final lap in what was a thrilling finish. For Kyle Busch, it marked his series-high fifth victory of the season, tying him with Kevin Harvick, who finished third. Larson finished second. Two-time defending race winner – and last Sunday’s winner at Sonoma Raceway – Martin Truex Jr. was fourth, and Clint Bowyer was fifth.

Michael Self won his second race of the 2018 season, taking the lead for the final time with two laps remaining to best Sheldon Creed – last week’s winner at Gateway Motorsports Park – by 0.155 seconds. Todd Gilliland, who had passed Self and led up until Lap 96, when most of the leaders pitted under the third and final caution, finished third, as his crew opted to take two tires instead of four on the stop. Zane Smith was fourth, while Chase Purdy came home fifth. Riley Herbst, the only frontrunner not to pit under the final caution, finished sixth, giving Toyota a sweep of the top six positions.

Haley led Todd Gilliland by .753 seconds. Sauter earned his seventh top-three finish in nine races by finishing third, ahead of Myatt Snider and Zane Smith, who was making his series debut.

Sheldon Creed won for the second time in three races, holding off Chase Purdy by 1.368 seconds to extend his championship points lead. Creed, who led a race-high 84 laps after starting on the pole position, has finished fourth or better in nine of 10 races in 2018. It marked the 10th win this season for Toyota, which swept the top five at Gateway. Chase Purdy finished second, by Harrison Burton, Christian Eckes and Riley Herbst, who rebounded from both a spin and a one-lap penalty for passing the pace car.
