The latest edition of the all-encompassing Motor Racing Statistics “By The Numbers” blog, which looks at numbers throughout many forms of motorsports. This blog runs on Tuesdays through the year.

1 – Chase Elliott became the most recent driver to win their first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, when he won Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International in New York.

2 – Joey Logano finished last in Sunday’s Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International in New York, marking only the second time in 349 career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races he’s finished last.

4 – Tanner Gray earned his class-leading fourth victory in Sunday’s NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Pro Stock race at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, winning over Deric Kramer, who red lit by .047 seconds. Gray’s pass was recorded at 6.632 seconds at 210.05 mph.

5 – Terry McCarl earned his fifth Knoxville Nationals 360 title Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa, passing Carson Macedo with two laps remaining. McCarl started third in the 25-lap event.

8 – Eight drivers have won in NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competition this season.

10 – Defending Knoxville Nationals winner Donny Schatz has a total of 10 A-Main victories. In addition to his 2017 triumph, Schatz also has a four-race winning streak between 2006 and 2009, and five straight wins between 2011 and 2015.

11 – Denny Hamlin became the 11th driver to sit on the pole position in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series competition this season, earning his first pole of 2018 at Watkins Glen International in New York.

12 – Steve Kinser leads all drivers in Knoxville Nationals A-Main 410 victories with 12.

12 – The leader of the most laps in the 22 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races has gone on to win that race 12 times this season. Chase Elliott was the latest to accomplish the feat, leading a race-high 52 laps en route to victory at Watkins Glen International in New York.

24 – A total of 24 drivers have won the Knoxville Nationals.

30 – Joey Logano won his 30th career NASCAR Xfinity Series race Saturday in the Zippo 200 at The Glen at Watkins Glen International in New York, leading 31 of 82 laps.

50 – Antron Brown broke through for his first NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel win and the 50th of his career (66 in all classes) in an all Don Schumacher Racing final Sunday at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington, defeating Leah Pritchett. Brown’s pass of 3.835 seconds at 322.88 mph narrowly edged Pritchett’s run of 3.849 seconds at 320.13 mph. Brown is the fourth driver to win 50 or more Top Fuel races.

58 – This weekend’s 5-Hour Energy Knoxville Nationals marks the 58th annual edition of the race, which began in 1961. The inaugural edition was won by Roy Robbins.

60 – Ron Capps recorded his 60th career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Funny Car victory Sunday at Pacific Raceways in Kent, Washington. He secured a final-round pass of 4.033 seconds at 314.90 mph over Courtney Force, who ran a 4.115-second pass at 255.63 mph.

66 – Sixty-six drivers have competed in at least one Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race in 2018.

99 – This weekend’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn marks the 99th race for the series at the two-mile track.

191 – With his first career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory Sunday at Watkins Glen International in New York, Chase Elliott became the 191st driver to win in the series since 1948.

1,082 – Kevin Harvick has led a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series high 1,082 laps this season, just 15 laps more than Kyle Busch.
