By The Numbers – 24 Hours of Le Mans Thru 18 Hours

1 – Only one Japanese manufacturer has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Mazda won the 1991 race with Volker Weidler, Johnny Herbert and Bertrand Gachot. Toyota is in good position to become the second, having led at the end of all 18 one-hour increments.

2 – Sebastien Buemi has had to serve two 60-second penalties for speeding through a slow zone (80 kph speed limit). Teammate Mike Conway also served one, violating the slow zone speed limit during the same incident, forcing both cars to stop at the same time.

3 – Three of the four class-leading cars – in the LMP2, LMGTE-Pro and LMGTE-AM classes – have at least one French-born driver.

3 – Three of the top six cars in the LMGTE-Pro class are Ford GTs from the Chip Ganassi Racing stable. Of those three cars, at least one driver in each car has at least one class win at Le Mans.

3:17.658 – The fastest lap of the race remains 3 minutes, 17.658 seconds, set by the No. 8 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid.

5 – The top LMP2 car, the No. 26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07-Gibson, continues to run fifth overall, 14 laps in arrears of the leaders.

7 – Seven of the top 10 cars in the LMP2 class are running on Dunlop tires, including the lead No. 26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07-Gibson.

9 – Nine cars have either officially retired or haven’t run for many, many hours. That list includes the Nos. 6, 17 and 4 in LMP1; Nos. 40 and 34 in LMP2; Nos. 82 and 94 in LMGTE-Pro; and Nos. 98 and 88 in LMGTE-Am.

10 – The lead Toyota Hybrids hold a lead of more than 10 laps over the third-place running No. 3 Rebellion.

15 – The No. 26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07-Gibson has led for 15-plus consecutive hours, having picked up the lead during the third hour of the race.

17 – Roman Rusinov has 17 career World Endurance Championship victories, coming into this weekend’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. He appears to be in a good position to pick up his 18th win, having been near the top of the LMP2 class much of the race.

18 – A Porsche has led the LMGTE-Pro class at the end of all 18 one-hour increments, with the No. 92 Porsche 911 RSR having led at the end of 17 of those.

26 – The No. 26 G-Drive Racing Oreca 07-Gibson has led almost the entire way in the LMP2 class, with Jean-Eric Vergne, Andrea Pizzitola and Roman Rusinov all spending time up front in the car, which has led at every one-hour increment through 18 hours.

26 – Andre Negrao celebrates his 26th birthday today. The Brazilian is part of the No. 36 Signatech Alpine Matmut Alpine A470-Gibson team that has run among the top three for much of the race.

29 – Number of pit stops made by the lead No. 8 Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 Hybrid (includes penalties as well).

47 – There have been two safety car periods for a total of approximately 47 minutes, the most recent 31 minutes during the fifth hour.

51 – Fifty-one of the 60 cars that started the race at 3 p.m. local time Saturday are still competing. That’s still on pace to break the record of most finishers, 48, in 2017.

59 – The current temperature is 59 degrees Fahrenheit, a drop of 13 degrees from the highest temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit early in the race Saturday. That 59-degree temperature is expected to increase quickly with the race heading into its final stages.

42.155 – Length of time, in seconds, separating the top two cars overall.

77 – The leader of the LMGTE-Am class is the No. 77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR, co-driven by Matt Campbell, Julien Andlauer and Christian Ried. The trio has led at every one-hour interval since the end of the third hour.

92 – The car number of the leading LMGTE-Pro entry, featuring drivers Michael Christensen, Kevin Estre and Lauren Vanthoor.

295 – Number of laps completed by the overall leading No. 8 Toyota Hybrid. That’s also the same number of laps led combined by the two Toyota Hybrids.

463 – Number of minutes contested by Matt Campbell in the No. 77 Dempsey-Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR, nearly all of them up front.

4,109.67 – Kilometers completed by overall leaders.
