Event Recap: 2018 World of Outlaws Statistics from Eldora Speedway, Race 1 (May 11, 2018)

Event statistics following the 17th race of the 2018 World of Outlaws season, the first of two #LetsRaceTwo 30-lap A-Main races at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Donny Schatz continued his strong start to the season, winning his seventh A-Main of the season by more than a second over Logan Schuchart. Brad Sweet finished third, more than two-and-a-half seconds behind Schatz.

Notes of Interest – Race Recap (#LetsRaceTwo, Race 1)
- This is Donny Schatz’s seventh World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series A-Main feature victory of the season and the 268th of his career. He remains third all-time in feature wins.
- This is Schatz’s 10th victory at Eldora Speedway. He has won at least one feature at the track in each of the last four seasons (2015-2018) and seventh season he’s won at least one race at Eldora.
- Schatz remains the driver with the most A-Main victories this season. Sheldon Haudenschild and Daryn Pittman each have three victories, with Cory Eliason, Aaron Reutzel, David Gravel and Brad Sweet each winning one A-Main.
- Schatz’s victory came from the third-starting position, marking the second time an A-Main race has been won from third this season. Drivers have won five of the 17 A-Mains this season from the second row.
- This is Schatz’s 13th top-five and 16th top-10 finish of the season. He has five consecutive top fives. Schatz owns an average finish of 3.59 through 17 races in 2018.
- Schatz led 18 laps, and has led 105 laps in eight A-Mains this season. His 105 laps led are two short of Sheldon Haudenschild’s series-leading 107 laps led.
- Schatz also won his heat, his series-high sixth of the season, tying him with Shane Stewart and Jason Johnson.

- Sweet and Schatz are now the only drivers to finish every lap of the 17 A-Main features this season.
- Jac Haudenschild, Cole Duncan and Gary Taylor finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively, the only three drivers in the 30-lapper having competed in their first World of Outlaws A-Main of the season. Duncan also led qualifying with a 12.879-second lap, and Duncan also won his heat and the dash. Haudenschild also won his eight-lap heat. 
- Haudenschild’s son, Sheldon Haudenschild, was seventh, earning his 13th top 10 of the season. That ties him with Sweet, Shane Stewart, David Gravel and Jason Johnson. Stewart was eighth in the A-Main.
- Daryn Pittman was ninth, earning his eighth consecutive top-10 finish and 12th of the season.
- Tim Shaffer was 10th, recording his third consecutive top 10 and sixth in 10 races in 2018.
- Paul McMahan finished 17th, the final driver to finish on the lead lap.
- Shane Stewart finished 22nd, ending his six-race streak of A-Main top 10s.
- The next race will be Saturday, May 12, with the second of two race nights as part of the #LetsRaceTwo event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
