The 86th annual 24 Hours of Le Mans is 33 days away! This is the 54th day of the 86 Stats in 86 Days Until the 86th 24 Hours of Le Mans blog.

Each day from now until the Friday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, we’ll post a list of stats related to the race. Some are well-known statistics, while others are a little more in-depth.

Just over half of all of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – 44 of the 85 previous races – has had at least one disqualification, with reasons ranging from unapproved help to mechanical violations and illegal fuel tanks to total abandonments. The race with the most disqualifications was the 1968 race, in which eight cars were disqualified for various reasons.
