Weekend Preview – NASCAR Xfinity Series in Richmond (April 20, 2018)

The NASCAR Xfinity Series continues action this weekend at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia with the eighth race of the 2018 season, the ToyotaCare 250.

Here’s a quick look at some interesting statistics and tidbits heading into the race.
NASCAR Xfinity Series (ToyotaCare 250; 7 p.m. ET Friday, April 20)
- This is the 69th Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway. The second-ever Xfinity Series race, in 1982, was won by Tommy Houston in a Pontiac.
- Kevin Harvick leads all drivers in Xfinity Series victories at Richmond with seven, including a three-race winning streak between the 2005 and 2006 fall races. Brad Keselowski is the most recent race winner at Richmond, having won the 2017 fall race, the fourth Richmond win of his Xfinity Series career.
- Overall, 33 drivers have won an Xfinity Series race at Richmond. Kyle Larson became the 33rd driver to win at the track when he won the spring race in 2017.
- Chase Elliott is the last Xfinity Series regular to win at Richmond, in 2015. Elliott transitioned fulltime into the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for the 2016 season.
- Chevrolet has won 25 of 68 Xfinity Series races at Richmond. Ford is second with 18, followed by Toyota with eight; Pontiac with six; Oldsmobile and Buick with five; and Dodge with one.
- The polesitter has won the Xfinity Series race at Richmond on 13 occasions, most recently the 2015 spring race with Denny Hamlin behind the wheel.
- Carl Edwards won from the furthest back of any driver, 39th,in the 2009 fall race. Seven of 68 winners have come from outside the top 20 starting positions.
- Drivers who have led the most laps in an Xfinity Series race at Richmond have gone on to win that race at least 31 times. Though the last two races have been won by a driver that hasn’t led the most laps, the previous six before that had won the race after leading the most laps.
- Kyle Busch holds the record for most laps led in a victory, when he led start-to-finish in the 2014 fall race, leading all 250 laps. Tommy Ellis also led all 150 laps in his victory in the 1994 fall race.
- Brian Scott holds the record for most laps led in a race at Richmond without winning, when he led 239 of 250 laps in the 2013 fall race en route to second. Scott was one of two race leaders, with winner Brad Keselowski having led the other 11 laps.
- Carl Edwards led only the final lap of the 2005 spring race, the only time a driver led only the final lap of an Xfinity Series race at Richmond. The winner of the race at Richmond has led 20 laps or less on eight occasions, and 10 laps or less on four occasions. Kyle Larson is the most recent Richmond winner to lead 20 laps or less of the race he won, when he led 10 laps in the 2017 spring race.

Statistics – 2018 Season and Series Overall
- Seven drivers have won races this season: Tyler Reddick, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Ryan Preece. Reddick and Preece are the only Xfinity Series regulars of that group.
