The latest edition of the all-encompassing Motor Racing Statistics “By The Numbers” blog, which looks at numbers throughout many forms of motorsports. This blog runs on Tuesdays through the year.

3 – The third round of the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship is this weekend during the annual Long Beach Grand Prix on the Streets of Long Beach, California. Defending winners include Ricky and Jordan Taylor (Prototype); Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner Jr. (GTLM); and Gunnar Jeannette and Cooper MacNeil (GTD).

4 – Donny Schatz scored his fourth World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series victory of the season last Saturday at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek. He’ll look to add to that this campaign hits the Midwest for the first time this weekend, with races in Jacksonville, Illinois, and Haubstadt, Ind.

4 – Pierre Gasly finished a career-best fourth in Sunday’s Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix after starting fifth for Red Bull Toro Rosso Honda.

5 – Lewis Hamilton leads all drivers in victories at the Heineken Chinese Grand Prix - this weekend’s stop on the Formula 1 calendar – with five. Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg have two victories each. Mercedes also has five victories in the race to lead all constructors.

8 – Josef Newgarden won his eighth career Verizon IndyCar Series race Saturday at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, leading the final four laps after an outside pass on Robert Wickens on the 1.022-mile track. It was Newgarden’s first victory of the season and the fourth straight season he’s won at least one IndyCar race.

10 – Bobby Santos III won the season-opening Phoenix Copper Cup at ISM Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, on Saturday. It was his second straight victory in the race and the 10th of his career.

11 – Vincent Nobile earned his 11th career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Wally by defeating Deric Kramer, Bo Butner and Chris McGaha in the Pro Stock category of the Four-Wide race Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

12 – J.R. Todd won his 12th career NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series final round and the first in a Four-Wide race Sunday at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. It was his third in the Funny Car class.

14 – Shanghai International Circuit, designed by Hermann Tilke, is comprised of 14 turns.

18 – Eighteen-year-old Zane Smith won his first career ARCA Racing Series event in 18 starts Saturday, with a victory in the Music City 200 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in Tennessee.

18 – Eighteen drivers have won an IndyCar race during the Long Beach Grand Prix, with Al Unser Jr. winning a record six times on the California pavement.

30 – Jean-Eric Vergne leads Felix Rosenqvist by 30 points heading into this weekend’s CBMM Niobium Rome ePrix on the streets of The Eternal City. This marks the first time the FIA Formula E will compete in Rome. The race is the seventh of the 2017-18 season, which marks the start of the second half of the 12-race campaign.

35 – This weekend marks the 35th edition of the Long Beach Grand Prix with an IndyCar race; the first was held in 1984 with Mario Andretti winning. Andretti won four times before Al Unser Jr. won six races on the temporary street circuit, including four times in a row from 1988 to 1992. 

39 – Lando Norris won his first start in Formula 2 on Saturday, a feature race, at Bahrain International Circuit and finished fourth in the sprint race to earn 39 points. He leads Artem Markelov, Sunday’s sprint race winner, by nine points as the series breaks for one week before returning to action.

43 – Sebastien Ogier won his 43rd career World Rally Championship event Sunday in the 61st annual Tour de Corse, marking the second time he’s won the race in Corsica. Ogier has won three of four WRC events this season, and has opened a 17-point advantage over second-place Thierry Neuville. The next event is later this month, the Rally Argentina.

44 – Kyle Busch recorded his 44th career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series victory Sunday at Texas Motor Speedway, for his first victory of the 2018 season and fifth top-three finish in seven races.

86 – Tony Schumacher earned his 86th career No. 1 qualifying position for Sunday’s DENSO Spark Plug NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

106 – Craig Lowndes earned his first Supercars Championship victory of the season and first since 2016, winning the second race of the Tasmania SuperSprint at Symmons Plains Raceway for his 106th career victory.

115 – This weekend’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway will be the 115th race at the track for the series, dating back to July 1961.

200 – Sebastian Vettel recorded his 49th career Formula 1 World Championship victory Sunday in the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, in his 200th career race. Four others won their 200th start: Michael Schumacher, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

250 – Kevin Harvick is shooting for his 250th career Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race led in this weekend’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Harvick led his 249th race Sunday in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, finishing second.

1,001 – Three-time NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel champion Antron Brown became the 10th driver in series history to record 1,000 career elimination rounds, reaching that feat in Sunday’s DENSO Spark Plug NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Brown competed in his 1,000th round in Round 2, then reached the final quartet for his 1,001st. He finished fourth in the finals behind Steve Torrence, teammate Tony Schumacher and Doug Kalitta.

4,956 – Scott Dixon remains 44 laps shy of 5,000 laps led in his IndyCar Series career. In the series, he’s led 4,956 laps.
