Notes of Interest
- Luigi Chinetti and Romain Dumas are the only drivers to win both races in the same year. Dumas’s 2010 win at Le Mans came in a prototype, and 2010 win at Spa in a GT car.
- Several drivers have an overall win and class win in one or the other races, or class victories in both. Three notable examples are Belgian drivers Eric van de Poele and Pierre Dieudonne and French pilot Claude Ballot-Lena, who each own eight class wins between the two races.
- Van de Poele holds the all-time record for overall wins in the 24 Hours of Spa, with five. He’s also earned three class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
- Meanwhile, Dieudonne is a three-time overall 24 Hours of Spa winner (four in class) and owns four class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
- Ballot-Lena also owns eight class wins between the two, with seven class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and a 24 Hours of Spa overall victory in 1969.
- Emmanuel Collard, Sebastien Bourdais, Lucas Luhr, Jorg Bergmeister and Wolf Henzler are also among drivers who have won the 24 Hours of Spa overall and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in class.
- Erwin Kremer won the 24 Hours of Spa in 1968 as a driver and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979 as a car owner.
- Marc Lieb has seven class victories between the two races, with four class victories at Le Mans (one overall) and three class wins at Spa (one overall).
