Series Historical Stats: Last Driver to Win a NASCAR Cup Series Race From a Specific Starting Position

This weekend's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, the only track that has hosted the series every year since the inaugural Cup Series season in 1949.

Here's an interesting look at the last time a driver has started from a specific starting position. Many have been within the last two or three seasons, but there are a few starting positions that have not produced a winner since the 1990s. The longest winless drought for a starting position that started higher than 40th is for the 33rd starting position. Rusty Wallace was the last driver to win from 33rd, when he won at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in 1993.
