Prototype/Overall Notes
- The distance between overall leader Johannes van Overbeek and second-place Eric Curran (#31 Cadillac DPi) was 4.030 seconds. Phil Hanson (#32 Ligier LMP2) was third.
- A total of 27 laps (101.25 miles/162.95 kilometers) were completed during the eighth hour and a total of 228 laps (855 miles/1375.99 kilometers) through eight hours.
- A total of three cars were not on the track at the end of the eighth hour: #2 Nissan DPi and #10 Cadillac DPi (Prototype) and #64 Ferrari 488 (GTD).

- Renger van der Zende took over the lead for the first time in the race, passing Johannes van Overbeek at the seven-hour, one-minute mark.
- Juan Pablo Montoya (#6 Acura DPi) spun in Turn 17 after contact with Tristan Vautier (#90 Cadillac DPi) at the seven-hour, three-minute mark. Vautier may have gotten loose. Montoya restarted the car and got back to action.
- Montoya brought out the seventh caution at the seven-hour, seven-minute mark, stopping on the track. He was pushed by track officials behind the wall (14 minute-caution, with green flag back out at seven-hour, 21-minute mark).
- At the seven-hour, 14-minute mark, most of the leaders pitted.
- Two minutes after the seventh caution ended, the eighth came out, for bodywork that came off Renger van der Zande’s car (#10 Cadillac) after contact with Eric Curran. The caution lasted only four minutes before the race resumed under the green flag.
- Despite stalling the car at least twice during a pit stop in the seventh hour, Harry Tincknell (#55 Mazda DPi) assumed the lead for the first time.
- At the seven-and-a-half hour mark, James French (#38 ORECA LMP2) and Joao Barbosa (#5 Cadillac DPi) were caught in an incident in Turn 17, when it appeared French made a late move to get into the pits. There was damage to the front of the #5 Cadillac and the right side of the #38 ORECA LMP2.

GTLM
