Notes of Interest
- Donny Schatz and Joey Saldana are each one win away from
major victory milestones. Schatz’s next win will be his 250th, while Saldana’s
next victory will be his 100th. Only five drivers have ever reached the 100-win
plateau – Steve Kinser (577), Sammy Swindell (294), Schatz (249), Mark Kinser
(153) and Doug Wolfgang (107). Schatz has a strong chance to pick up at least
one win at Volusia – he’s already won twice this week in All-Star Circuit of
Champions competition, bringing his career victory total of 391 feature wins.
- This season’s schedule features 89 features spread across 10
months in 24 states (with one TBA). June and July are the busiest months with
12 events scheduled each month. California leads all states with 12 scheduled
events, followed by Pennsylvania with 11.
- Donny Schatz won last year’s championship by 210 points,
recording 20 A-Main victories. Brad Sweet was second in points, with only five
wins. Third-place David Gravel earned 18 wins.
- Donny Schatz is aiming for a fifth consecutive title and
10th in his career. A fifth consecutive title would be the first time a
driver has won that many in succession since Steve Kinser from 1990 to 1994. Daryn Pittman was the last driver to win a championship not named Schatz – in 2013.
- Schatz has won at Volusia Speedway Park every year since 2014.

of Outlaws standings.
