preliminary night feature wins, tying him with Christopher Bell, Jerry Coons
Jr., Kevin Doty, Tracy Hines and Kevin Swindell.
- - Abreu was one of two drivers to win on multiple
occasions Wednesday night, as he also triumphed in his heat and qualifying
races. Tyler Thomas also won his heat and qualifier races. Abreu joins Tuesday
night’s winner, Kyle Larson, as a qualifier and A-Feature winner through two
nights.
- - Thomas finished second in the A-Feature, having
led three times for 10 laps after a stellar battle with Abreu. With his
efforts, he locked himself into his third consecutive Saturday night A-Main.
His best finish was seventh his rookie season – 2016.
- - Kevin Thomas Jr., the third-place finisher, also
led a single lap and will be competing in his first Saturday night A-Main.
- - Sammy Swindell broke his tie with Dave Darland
for most heat race victories, notching a 13th career heat win in the third
heat. Others who also added another heat race victory to their credit included
Brady Bacon (6), Brandon Waelti (5), Tyler Thomas (4), Rico Abreu (4), Chris Windom (4), Chase
Stockon (3), Jeb Sessums (2) and Colby Copeland (2). Bacon’s sixth victory
makes him the 19th driver to earn at least that many heat victories in the
Chili Bowl.
- - Kory Schudy and Kevin Thomas Jr. were all first-time Chili Bowl heat winners. A total of 334 drivers have won at
least one heat race in the history of the Chili Bowl Nationals.
