Event Recap: 2017-18 Formula E Uruguay ePrix Statistics (March 17)

Event statistics following this weekend’s 103-kilometer (64-mile) CBMM Niobium Punta del Este ePrix at the 1.73-mile (2.785-kilometer), 20-turn Punta del Este Street Circuit in Punta del Este, Uruguay. It marked the sixth round of the 12-round 2017-2018 season and fourth of the 2018 calendar year (first two rounds in Hong Kong were held at the end of 2017).

Jean-Eric Vergne held off a strong charge by Lucas di Grassi to win by about two-and-a-half car lengths for his third victory of the season. Vergne had been elevated to the pole after a penalty dropped di Grassi, the fastest qualifier, to second.

Notes of Interest
- This is the second victory of the season for Jean-Eric Vergne, and his third career victory. Vergne’s first victory of the 2017-2018 season also came in South America, at Parque Forestal in Santiago, Chile.
- Both of Vergne’s victories this season have come from the pole position. Three of the six races this season have been won from the pole.
- Vergne has been on the pole position for two of the three races at Punta del Este. Vergne also earned the pole at the track in 2014. His previous best finish at the track was seventh came during the 2015-2016 season.
- Vergne has finished in the top five in each of his six races this season. He has an average finish of third.
- Vergne has led a season-best three races (tied with Felix Rosenqvist) for a season-best 91 laps (those 91 laps led account for 129 total in his career).
- Vergne extended his points lead to 30 points over Felix Rosenqvist.
- Vergne is tied with Sebastien Buemi for most pole positions this season, with three.
- Vergne moved into a tie for fourth all-time in Formula E victories, with Nicolas Prost and Felix Rosenqvist. Prost and Vergne have given France a total of six victories, tied for third behind Switzerland (12) and Brazil (8).
