Event Recap: 2018 IndyCar Series Statistics from Mid-Ohio (July 29, 2018)

Event statistics following the 13th race of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season, the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.

Alexander Rossi scored his second victory of the season and fourth of his career, leading more than half the race to cut Scott Dixon’s points lead to 46 points with four races remaining. Rossi bested Robert Wickens by 12.8285 seconds. Will Power completed the podium. Defending race winner Josef Newgarden finished fourth, ahead of Dixon.

Notes of Interest – Race Recap (Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course)
- This is the 34th IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio and the 12th in IndyCar Series history.
- This is Alexander Rossi’s second victory of the 2018 IndyCar Series season (Long Beach Street Circuit) and the fourth of his career. His two victories this season are the most in his three-year career; he earned a single win during the 2016 and 2017 season.
- This is Rossi’s first victory at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Two of Rossi’s four career victories have come on permanent road courses; he also won at Watkins Glen International in 2017.
- Rossi is the fourth driver with multiple IndyCar victories in 2018. Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon lead all drivers with three victories each, while Will Power also has two wins. Sebastien Bourdais, Ryan Hunter-Reay and James Hinchcliffe.
- A total of 11 drivers improved on their starting position in the race.
