- This is Josef Newgarden’s series-leading third victory of the 2018 IndyCar Series season and the 10th of his career.
- This is Newgarden’s first victory at Road America. He has won at five permanent road courses, and seven different race tracks.
- Newgarden is one of three drivers to win multiple races this season. Scott Dixon and Will Power have two wins in 2018. Newgarden is also one of six drivers to win this season, as Sebastien Bourdais, Alexander Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay each have one victory.
- This is the second consecutive season and second overall that Newgarden has won at least three IndyCar races in a single season. He won four races in 2017. Overall, Newgarden has won at least one race in each of the last four seasons.
- Newgarden is the fifth driver to win at Road America for Team Penske. He joins Danny Sullivan, Emerson Fittipaldi, Paul Tracy and Will Power.
