Notes of Interest – Race Recap (Federated Auto Parts Raceway)
- This is Daryn Pittman’s second World of Outlaws A-Main feature victory of the season and the 74th of his career. He remains 10th all-time in A-Main victories.
- This is Pittman’s third victory at Pevely. He also won a race at the rack in 2002 and has won the last two races at Pevely (2017 and 2018).
- Pittman is the third driver this season with multiple World of Outlaws A-Main victories, joining Donny Schatz (four) and Sheldon Haudenschild (three). Cory Eliason and Aaron Reutzel each have one.
- Pittman’s victory came from the sixth starting position, marking the third time that a driver has won from sixth in 2018. More races have been won from sixth than any other starting position this season.
- This is Pittman’s second top-five finish of the season and sixth top-10.
- Pittman has led 49 laps in the last two races, the only races in which he’s led this season. Pittman’s 49 laps led are the third most of any driver this season.
- Polesitter/dash winner Donny Schatz finished second, his eighth top-five finish and 10th top 10 in 11 races this season. Schatz has an average finish of 3.91, which leads all drivers. Schatz also obtained his fourth heat victory of the season, tying him with Brian Brown and Shane Stewart for the series lead.
- Sheldon Haudenschild finished third, his first top-three finish in the last three races. Haudenschild led a race-high 23 laps, and leads the series this season in A-Main features (nine) and laps (104) led.
- David Gravel finished fourth, his third consecutive top-10 result and eighth of 2018. Gravel also won his second heat of the season.
- Brad Sweet rounded out the top five, earning his second top-five finish of the weekend (joining Daryn Pittman and David Gravel as the three drivers to do so) and his fifth top-five of the season. Sweet – just eight points behind Haudenschild for second in the points standings – also won his heat.
- Fast qualifier Jason Sides was the sixth-place finisher, notching his season best and ensuring that all four of the event’s heat winners finished in the top six.
- Shane Stewart earned seventh, his eighth top 10 of the season.
- Cale Thomas, in his second A-Main feature of the season and weekend, claimed a season-best eighth.
- Ninth was Joey Saldana, one of two drivers to finish in ninth or better in each of the last four A-Main features (all finishes have come since he missed Race #7 of the season at Stockton, California.
- Brent Marks was 10th, charging a race-high 12 positions from 22nd for his fourth top-10 finish of the season. It was Marks’s third hard charger effort of the season, a series-high.
- Jason Johnson finished 14th, ending a four-race streak of consecutive top-10 finishes (had been best active streak).
- Three drivers made their A-Main season debuts: Christopher Bell (12th); Brady Bacon (13th); and Paul Nienhiser (23rd). Bell won Friday night’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Richmond International Raceway in Virginia.
- A total of 17 drivers finished the race on the lead lap.
- Three drivers have completed all 360 A-Main feature laps this season: Donny Schatz, Brad Sweet and Shane Stewart.
- The next race will be Wednesday, April 25, at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, Texas.
