Recap
- This is
Kyle Larson’s first victory of the NASCAR Xfinity Series season and the ninth
of his career. It is his first at Las Vegas; he now has victories at eight
different tracks (he’s won twice at California Speedway in Fontana).
- Larson is
now the 16th driver to win an Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas. He led a
race-high 142 laps of the race.
- Larson has
now won at least one Xfinity Series race in each of the past five seasons, with
a career-best three during the 2017 season.
- Larson is
the fifth consecutive Cup Series regular to win the Xfinity Series race at Las
Vegas, joining Brad Keselowski (2014); Austin Dillon (2015); Kyle Busch (2016);
and Joey Logano (2017).
- This is
Larson’s first career victory from the second starting position. He has won
from every position between first and ninth with the exception of sixth-place.
He has won from the seventh starting position twice. Second is also the highest this season a driver has started from this season and won.
- Four of
Larson’s nine Xfinity Series victories have come on 1.5-mile tracks (Charlotte,
Homestead, Texas and Las Vegas).
- Larson is
looking to win the Xfinity Series and Cup Series races at the same track on the
same weekend for the second time in his career on Sunday. He won both races at
California during the 2017 season.
- This is
Chevrolet’s first victory at Las Vegas in the Xfinity Series since Austin
Dillon won the 2015 race. Chevrolet now has 11 Xfinity Series wins at Las
Vegas.
- This is the
first time a driver from the second starting position won the Xfinity Series
race at Las Vegas since 2014, when Brad Keselowski won. Overall, the winner of
the race has started from the front row four of the last five races.
- This is the
second consecutive Xfinity Series race the winner has led at least 141 laps.
Kevin Harvick won last weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton,
Georgia, leading 141 laps.
- Christopher
Bell finished a season-best second in notching his second consecutive top-three
finish. Driving the top-finishing Toyota, Bell led six laps in his first
Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas.
- Bell also
earned the pole position for the race, his second of the season and in
succession, and third of his career, only 11 races old. Erik Jones was the last driver to win back-to-back Xfinity Series poles, doing so in November 2017 at Texas Motor Speedway and ISW Raceway.
- Justin
Allgaier finished a season-best third in his Chevrolet, topping his previous best
of sixth last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
- Ryan Blaney
notched fourth in the top-finishing Ford, in his first Xfinity Series race of
the season. He led 33 laps, and has now led in each of the last 10 races in
which he’s competed. Blaney has finished 25 consecutive races in which he’s
competed in the Xfinity Series, and has earned a top-five finish in 17 of his
last 19 Xfinity Series races.
- Elliott
Sadler continued his consistency with a third consecutive top-five to start the
season, finishing fifth. Sadler has now finished in the top 10 in 11 of the
last 12 races and finished each of the last 12 races. He is the only driver to finish in the top 10 in every race this season.
- Three other
drivers who finished in the top 10 recorded season-best results: Daniel Hemric
(sixth), Brandon Jones (seventh) and Cole Custer (ninth).
- Tyler
Reddick, who won the season-opening race at Daytona International Speedway, was
eighth, while Las Vegas native Spencer Gallagher scored 10th.
- Other
drivers who finished with season-bests were Matt Tifft (11th); Austin Dillon
(12th); Michael Annett (13th); Kyle Busch (14th); Alex Labbe (17th); Joey Gase
(20th); Josh Williams (21st); Tommy Joe Martins (25th); B.J. McLeod (26th);
Matt Mills (27th); Josh Bilicki (28th); Mike Harmon (31st); Timmy Hill (33rd);
and Morgan Shepherd (37th). Busch, Bilicki and Harmon were making their season
debuts in the Xfinity Series.
- A total of 19
drivers improved on their starting position in the race.
- The next
race will be Saturday, March 10, with the DC Solar 200 at ISW Raceway (Phoenix
International Raceway) in Avondale, Arizona.
